Expert Sinus Lift Surgery for Successful Dental Implant Placement
At Balaji Dental and Craniofacial Hospital, we specialize in advanced sinus lift surgery and dental implant placement, ensuring long-term stability and success for patients with bone loss in the upper jaw.
What is a Sinus Lift?
A sinus lift (sinus augmentation) is a specialized procedure performed when there is insufficient bone height in the upper jaw or when the maxillary sinus is too close to the implant site. This procedure creates enough space for secure dental implant placement, improving the success rate of implants in the upper jaw.
Why Do You Need a Sinus Lift?
A sinus lift is required if:
- You have bone loss in the upper jaw due to missing teeth for a long time.
- Your maxillary sinuses are too close to the implant area, reducing available bone support.
- You suffer from bone resorption after tooth loss or gum disease.
- You want permanent dental implants but lack adequate bone support.
Our Advanced Sinus Lift Procedure
- Comprehensive Evaluation – Using 3D CBCT scans, we assess bone density and sinus positioning.
- Minimally Invasive Sinus Lift Surgery – We gently lift the sinus membrane and place bone graft material to create a strong foundation.
- Healing & Bone Integration – Over time, the grafted bone fuses with the natural bone, ensuring optimal support for implants.
Dental Implant Placement – Once healed, high-quality titanium dental implants are placed for long-lasting restoration.

Sinus lift procedure may be done in cases where bone is inadequate for placement of dental implants in the upper jaw posterior region.
Maxillary sinuses are air-filled cavities in the upper jaw. Severe bone loss can cause the floor of the maxillary sinus to lower and get close to gums. This leads to insufficient height of bone and dental implants cannot be placed. Therefore, before placing the implant screw, the sinus lining is “lifted” and either rhBMP-2 or a bone graft is tucked below the lining.
Following this, quantity of bone increases and the implant screw can be easily placed. Implant supported crown or bridge can then be fabricated to replace the missing tooth/teeth. Sinus lift is an easy, safe and predictable procedure done for increasing bone height for the insertion of a dental implant in the upper jaw.
Dr. S.M. Balaji excels at sinus lift implant procedures and performs several intricate cases with ease even under just local anesthesia.
